Katrathal
“Katra”(a market surrounded on all sides by walls) + “Sthal” (place) Katrathal is an ancient historical village in Sikar district in Rajasthan, India. This ancient village is believed to be founded about 5000 years back whereas its existence can easily be traced back to almost 3000 BC –the time of Mahabharata, where it was known by the name of Rud's Nagari. The ruins of Buddhist temples are found in the village.

Referred to the open art gallery, Nawalgarh is renowned for its exquisitely painted havelis. The traders and merchants constructed most of the havelis in the 18th century and the early 19th century. The town is small and is situated in a low lying area where several rivers die out. The silt carried by them was used to prepare some of the finest bricks which was used in building the havelis.

The streets and markets of Nawalgarh are a must walk simply for the magic of bygone era that has still been preserved.
