Bala Quila- The Massive Fort

Almost every city or town in Rajasthan is blessed with a fort. So is Alwar, Bala Quila fort stands atop hill which is situated in enchanting atmosphere of the Arawalis. The adjoining areas are full of dense forest growth and provides a great view of the city from its watch towers. It has 15 large and 51 small towers with 446 loopholes for musketry. The major attractions of the fort are the palace area, topwale hanuman ji temple, chakradhari hanuman ji temple, sita ram temple and army area. Bala Quila have huge ornate pols (gates), Some of them are the Jai Pol Suraj PolLaxman Pol, Chand Pol, Kishan Pol and andheri Gate. There are the remains of other structures too, like the Jal Mahal, Nikumbh Mahal, Salim Sagar, Suraj Kund and about 15 temples. The most impressive aspect of the fort is the spectacular view of the city and the lake studded countryside below.

Siliserh Lake

The scenic beauty of the place is truly awesome. Nestled amidst the forested sloped of Aravallis, it will be a treat to the eye of the tourists. Moreover, the conducive surroundings also attract a large number of migratory birds. These birds act as an added attraction for the tourists and also add to the beauty of the place. Besides its impressive looks, the lake is a hot spot of challenge loving people since it presents a perfect track for angling. The beauty of the pond is so graceful that one would not mind spending hours on its lovely banks. This lake is surrounded by thick wooded hills with beautiful chhatris on the embankment. This lake was once a source of the Alwar's water supply and various fishes and water birds can be seen in this lake. Situated between the Aravalis and overlooking the lake is the magnificent royal hunting lodge or Siliserh lake palace. One could spend hours by simply watching the waterfowl.

A boat trip in the lake, particularly during winter season, is a rewarding experience.

Moosi maharani ki Chattari  & Sagar

Moosi Maharani ki Chattari..

Moosi Maharani Ki Chhatri is situated in the city palace in Alwar. In this monumental structure where nestles an ornamental impressive cenotaph called Moosi Maharani ki Chhatri. It was built by Vinay Singh in the memory of Maharaja Bakhtawar Singh and his queen, Rani Moosi, who committed sati, the self immolation of a widow on her husband’s funeral pyre. Constructed on a platform of pillared red sandstone, this two-storied cenotaph has splendid arches and unusual rounded domes. The top storey is in marble and the interiors have some great carvings.

There is a huge and heritage water tank called “Sagar”. This beautiful lake houses some marvelous shrines and an array of gorgeous cenotaphs on its banks. These monuments along with the glittering waters of the lake present a rejuvenating environment to the spectators.

Sariska National Park & Tiger reserve

Sariska National Park is home to numerous carnivores including Leopard, Wild Dog, Jungle Cat, Hyena, Jackal, and Tiger. These feed on an abundance of prey species such as Sambar, Chitel, Nilgai, Chausingha, Wild Boar and Langur. Sariska is also well known for its large population of Rhesus Monkeys, which are found in large numbers around Talvriksh.

The avian world is also well represented with a rich and varied birdlife. These include Peafowl, Grey Partridge, Bush Quail, Sand Grouse, Tree Pie, Golden backed Wood Pecker, Crested Serpent Eagle and the Great Indian Horned Owl.
